Good Vibes Only

Anyone who really knows me knows that I am not a super private person. I share whatever I am going through because not only is it cathartic for me but because usually my situation is not unique and there is someone else who could benefit from hearing my perspective.

The truth is, I have extremely selfish motivations for starting this blog. Between Matt and I we have 6 parents, 4 grandparents, 5 brothers (with significant others), and an amazing framily (friends who feel like family) – all of whom want to know what’s going on and be there to support us along the way. This blog will allow me to give all of the updates that everyone is looking for, without having to repeat myself 27 times. Selfish – I know.

It has only been 9 days since my diagnosis and already it feels like weeks have gone by. I can’t even remember what it is was like to have a day without a doctor appointment and endless phone calls. Every day we are meeting with doctors and absorbing so much new information about how to treat and beat my cancer.

Matthew and I are both feeling extremely positive. We are taking a pragmatic approach to our situation and know that we will handle whatever comes our way. We have the most amazing support system and know that everything is going to be okay. When we have something to worry about, we’ll worry, but until then it’s Good Vibes Only.

We have been so overwhelmed with the outpouring of love we have received and know that everyone is sending good vibes our way.

  1. Shayna, I’m praying for your recovery and the strength and faith you need to get through this season of your life. May God insulate you to get through all that is necessary to win this battle. Cancer cannot touch your mind, it cannot touch your heart, and it cannot touch your soul…Don’t let it! We truly never know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice we have on our side. You got this Shayna…Much love to you Matthew and the boys!
